Our ministry is one of pastoring missionaries throughout the world on their turf. It consists of ‘all things pastoral’, i.e. encouragement, preaching, teaching, counseling, prayer, friendship & acts of service. Susan and I come from a background of 23+ years of traditional pastoral ministry here in the states along with a great love for Missions and Missionaries. We believe that God has given each of us a real passion to minister to the spiritual/emotional and pastoral needs of Missionaries. At different times in our pastoral ministry over the years there have been key people whom God has caused to come alongside of us for pastoral encouragement, counsel and prayer, etc. This has been just what we’ve needed from the hand and heart of God to help carry us through what we were facing. We know that those on the field need the same type of care. We sense that this is the dimension of ministry to which God has called us.
We’ve known firsthand that many Missionaries are often found to be very weary, ‘beaten down’ and discouraged through a multitude of factors that they face on the front lines of their ministries. Among the factors that lead to these conditions are: great distances from family and friends; cultural isolation because their home culture often radically differs from their host culture; significant financial difficulties; varying levels of conflict; strains and stresses of everyday marital and child-rearing issues. Further, the dynamics of most mission entities is that they are often devoid of ‘a safe person’ to speak with or be counseled by; coming under the hearing and challenge of regular preaching and teaching from the Word, etc. We seek to be those ‘safe people’ and bring a dimension of the above to mission groups and individual missionaries and their families.
